Art - Scale Matters

I love my clients. They allow me to be creative and really own a project from beginning to end. Through the years, I have found that one tricky point for so many people is finishing their art collection. We often spend months and years tediously selecting furnishings and then stop right before we select the crown jewels - eye candy for the walls!

In this conversation, size does matter. Scale and surprise are your friends when selecting and placing art and accessories. We tend to revert back to our old habits... small and traditional artwork, hung on a huge wall - all by its lonesome. My opinion is that artwork should fill the wall and make a statement!

The strong color presence of this piece brings life to this beautifully traditional room. Its bold nature adds visual weight to the space and the scale is perfect for the ceiling height.

I love the idea of creating a floor to ceiling gallery wall of artwork.

Filling the entire wall, the Japanese screens make a statement with the help of scale and color. They also create a nice compilation of modern, traditional, and asian elements.

Here is a project I did a couple years back. This piece is an antique and generates vertical movement on these large walls. Anything smaller would get lost.

This is a beautiful, modern application showcasing the importance of scale.

I love to use a centered mirror, with artwork lining both sides, in my design work. Symmetry mixed up with fun accessories. We're about ready to unveil our store, so look forward to that with my next blog! :)-Tiffany
